A spokesman says it has now been replaced with a press conference by Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

KUALA LUMPUR: A controversial event featuring former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad scheduled for today has been called off after two venues withdrew their permission for the “Malay Proclamation” gathering.
A spokesman for the organisers, Sekretariat Tanah Air, told FMT that it had now been replaced by a press conference by the former prime minister at the Putra headquarters here at 3pm.
Yesterday, it was reported that the organiser had decided to postpone the event after two venues cancelled their permission for the gathering. It was expecting at least 300 people to turn up for the event.
Sekretariat Tanah Air describes itself as a group of Malay volunteers fighting to save the country’s ethnic majority from being subjugated by the minority.
On Friday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim issued a stern warning to parties that he said were using race and religion to promote strife.
He said his administration would not tolerate any acts of racial instigation or provocation and would uphold the Federal Constitution as a government that is inclusive.
