KUALA LUMPUR: Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said tonight the basis of his party’s struggle was to pass the torch to newwer leaders and establish equality in the party.
There was nothing to be proud about being among the youngest MPs in the Dewan Rakyat if he failed to raise up other leaders in the generation after him, he said.
“Why be proud about being one of the youngest MPs if I cannot bring up a party of young leaders who can do much better than me?” he said at a Muda dinner tonight.
Syed Saddiq, who turns 29 this year, said Muda members had the vigour, spirit and zeal to make Malaysia a better place. The party envisioned a future where any person could become prime minister.
“If I can be the prime minister someday, why can’t a woman, Indian or Chinese become prime minister,” he said.
Syed Saddiq said Malaysia could only be successful if every citizen felt that they were equal partners. All Malaysians must be treated equally and governed with integrity, he said.
